What is Your Case Worth?

No lawyer can tell you, in the beginning of your case, how much it will be worth. Any lawyer who says “you have a million dollar case” is simply telling you what he or she thinks you want to hear in order to get your case. Such a lawyer should be avoided. You will be better off with a lawyer who is honest with you from the start.  The truth is that the value of a case depends on so many variables that cannot be determined in the early stages of a case.  As a general rule, an evaluation cannot be performed until ones medical condition has stabilized and the full extent of the injury is known. How long was the recovery period? Are the injuries permanent? How much time and money have been lost from work? How has the injury affected ones quality of life? How culpable was the defendant? Did the injured party contribute to the accident? These are some of the questions a good lawyer will need answers to before attempting to tell you what a case is worth.
